It’s said that the Dragon Boat Festival in China is now pretty much “ruled by” what people born in the 1990s say. So the custom that used to have a bundle of mugwort hung at the door has evolved—only its form is still there. For example: some hang tianmou (mugwort stems), some hang celery, some hang romaine lettuce, and some hang cilantro. In short, anything with “teeth” can be hung—after it’s hung, you can even take it back and eat it.
