The U.S. Vice President accuses Israel of lacking trust in the United States
U.S. Vice President Vance criticized Israel on June 18 for its “bizarre panic” and “hysteria” over the U.S.-Iran understanding memorandum; Israel and its allies criticized the memorandum for not addressing concerns about Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, or for potentially constraining actions against Lebanese Hezbollah. Vance said U.S.-Israel relations are good, refuting claims of a bad agreement, and said Israel mistakenly believes that a favorable situation for Israel will happen against Iran on its own, which the memorandum does not stipulate.
