The median free account on X gets 0% engagement.

(@buffer analyzed 18.8 million posts. After early 2025, half of all non-Premium posts now get zero.)
Most posts don't fail because the ideas are bad.
They fail because they sound like everyone else.
Studies estimate bots and AI now produce 20 to 29% of posts on X. The feed is a wall of sameness.
So in 2026, the edge isn't posting more. It's sounding like a real, specific human.
7 ways to actually get seen on X:
1. Replies are the cheat code
The fastest growth on X is replies, not posts. But a generic, bot-shaped reply gets ignored. A reply only you could have written gets the click.
2. Kill the AI tells
"Delve." "In today's fast-paced landscape." Em-dash pile-ups. People clock AI in a single scroll. Use your actual words.
3. One sharp take beats a recycled thread
Nobody bookmarks another "10 lessons I learned" thread. They bookmark the line that only makes sense coming from you.
4. Have a point of view
The balanced, safe take dies in the feed. Say the thing you actually believe.
5. Sound like you, every time
One viral hit doesn't build a following. Recognition does. People follow a voice they can pick out of a feed.
6. Reuse your bangers
Your audience doesn't remember your old posts. Repost a winner from a couple months ago. It's new to almost everyone.
7. Don't hand your timeline to a generic model
Use AI to draft faster, not to sound like the average. A general model's default is the median. Your job is to be the opposite of the median.
The tools were never the problem. Shipping the average is.
In a feed that's mostly bots, AI, and recycled takes, your voice is the one thing nobody can copy.

P.S. That's exactly why I built @VoiceMOAT. It trains AI on your own posts and replies, so everything you ship still sounds like you, with a voice match score on every draft.
