Bitcoin Rodney admits involvement in $1.8 billion crypto scam
Florida man Rodney Burton (online name Bitcoin Rodney) admits to involvement in the HyperFund scam. Prosecutors say he conspired to promote the scheme from June 2020 to January 2022, profiting at least $7.8 million, controlling multiple companies and assisting in promoting to investors, suspected of embezzling investor funds. HyperFund is accused of being a global scam, promising daily returns of 0.5%-1%. Sentencing is scheduled for July 23, with a maximum of five years in prison.
