STRC de-pegged, Strategy responds with "selling BTC to pay interest"
A protocol handling $ETH staking worth 13 billion USD, with a native token market cap of only 35 million USD, and an APR still at 24%.
When I saw this data, I was stunned.
The SSV token didn't get much attention before, after all, the overall market wasn't great, $ETH dropped to around 1729, and it fell another 3.6% in 24 hours.
Most altcoins are taking a beating, so what highlights could there be in this market condition?
But the problem lies right here.
The more people throw SSV into staking pools, the APR surprisingly remains at 24%, and the returns are settled directly in $ETH.
A foundational protocol that routes $ETH worth 13B USD to various nodes and can continuously squeeze out profits, yet the market only prices it at 35 million USD, this alone indicates a problem—either I’ve misjudged it, or the market just hasn’t reacted yet.
I was hesitant earlier too, because such fundamentally solid coins that no one is speculating on are the most tormenting.
When the market is stagnant, you feel like a fool waiting for a rain that will never come.
But markets are not always rational.
Funds will fill the gaps, it’s just a matter of time.
When a protocol’s TVL and market cap gap widens to thirty or forty times, smart money will always be the first to act.
Now it’s just a matter of who gets impatient first and hands over their chips at this level.
I don’t plan to chase highs this wave, but I will buy on dips.
Another thing, STRC dropped directly to $89 last night, hitting the lowest since IPO.
Strategy came out saying selling $BTC can pay dividends for 32 years, which sounds reassuring, but in reality, it’s revealing their hand—the company is already preparing for the worst regarding the preferred stock’s returns.
Once such statements come out, short-term sentiment towards $BTC will definitely be suppressed.
Big funds seeing "selling coins to pay interest" will first choose to wait and see.
So at this point, with $ETH still falling and altcoin sentiment unstable, I don’t think it’s necessary to rush in.
Wait until the sentiment around STRC settles, wait until the liquidation zone hits again, then consider acting.
Do you think SSV’s size is reasonable?
