A Trader's Confession (Short Version)

December 2024, my crypto portfolio was severely in the red. Panicking and ashamed, I shifted from spot trading to high leverage perpetual trading, something I had never mastered before. Strangely, I actually succeeded. Profit after profit on each position, the year ended in the green. I felt invincible.

It was that arrogance that destroyed me.

On January 5, 2025, I went all-in short $CHILLGUY with high leverage, based on the logic of negative funding rates. The market moved wildly in the opposite direction. I held my position for three days, haunted by the fear of liquidation, until I finally cut my losses at the worst point just before the price truly collapsed 80%. In panic, I even reversed my position to long. The result: all my capital was gone. Zero.

5 Lessons I Take from This Ruin:

1. Don’t trade to chase losses; courage born from desperation, not skill, and overconfidence are poisons.
2. High leverage is a double-edged sword; always ask yourself how much loss you can tolerate before opening a position.
3. Funding rates are unseen enemies that can silently erode your capital when holding positions too long.
4. Psychology determines everything; cut losses based on your plan, not fear; hold based on analysis, not empty hope.
5. The market owes you nothing; yesterday’s wins don’t guarantee anything today.

I lost all my capital in just a few days. But what I found was far more valuable: the awareness that trading isn’t about getting rich quickly, but about recognizing your own weaknesses and greed in front of a market that is honest but ruthless.

To beginner traders reading this, let my story be a mirror, not entertainment. Fortuna is indeed unpredictable, but the character tested in fire is the one that will endure.
