Back then
I really liked a passage: not all seeds can sprout, but once they’re planted, there’s a chance they’ll sprout; not all flowers will bear fruit, but once they bloom, there’s hope they’ll bear fruit. Never underestimate the power of persistence. Believe that your persistence will ultimately become beautiful. What you do in March and April will have answers in August and September.
In an era where efficiency comes first, we are always eager to achieve results quickly, yet we don’t realize that fate actually favors those who are “willing to wait.” Sometimes, taking it slow is actually faster. Make it through the cold winter, and wait until spring warms the air and flowers bloom. The little grass covered by white snow takes root downward and grows upward, nourished by snowmelt. White is the grass’s secret. The underlying logic behind everyone’s success: hibernate — settle — grow. All those sudden breakthroughs are the result of efforts that go unnoticed. While hope is brewed in long darkness, one day, you too can grow lush and green, thriving just like the grass.
A night-blooming cereus that appears for a moment needs to wait through the whole daytime, while cicadas that sing through summer stay underground, hibernating for several years. Life is the same. Every outstanding person has a period of taking root downward. Hold on to your original intention, settle quietly, and do the things in front of you with a craftsman’s mindset—then all good things will arrive as promised.
Finally, I’d like to share a quote from Freud with everyone, as a word of encouragement for us all: one day, when you look back on the path you’ve walked, you’ll find that those years of relentless striving are the most beautiful life.
