#MyGateTradeStory
When I first started trading, I thought success would come quickly if I just learned a few strategies and followed signals. But the reality was very different. My journey from beginner to a more disciplined trader was shaped mostly by mistakes, not wins. Over time, I realized that surviving in the market is more about avoiding repeated errors than finding perfect entries.
One of my biggest mistakes in the beginning was overleveraging every trade. I used to think higher leverage would help me grow faster, but it actually did the opposite. Even small market moves would trigger fear or panic because my position size was too large. A normal pullback would feel like a disaster. Today, I completely avoid this by keeping my position size based on risk, not excitement. I only risk a small fixed percentage per trade, which allows me to stay calm even during volatility.
Another major mistake was entering trades without a clear invalidation point. I would open positions based on emotions or quick signals, but I had no defined stop-loss logic. Because of that, losing trades often turned into much bigger losses than they should have been. Now, I never enter a trade unless I know exactly where my idea becomes wrong. The stop-loss is not optional anymore—it is part of my entry plan, not something I think about later.
The third mistake was overtrading during emotional periods, especially after losses or during strong market hype. I used to feel like I needed to “recover” quickly or catch every move, which led to impulsive decisions. Most of those trades had no proper setup and were driven by frustration or greed. Today, I avoid this by stepping away from the charts when I notice emotional pressure. If I’m not calm, I simply don’t trade. Waiting for clear setups has improved my results more than any strategy change.
Looking back, I understand that trading success is not built on perfect predictions. It is built on discipline, consistency, and the ability to avoid repeating the same mistakes. Every error I made in the beginning taught me something important, but the real progress came when I stopped repeating them.
