Abstract generation in progress
According to Cryptopolitan, the Russian government plans to add Circle’s USDC to its regulated cryptocurrency trading whitelist. Earlier in early June this year, the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) revealed a list of crypto assets that are permitted to be traded by non-eligible retail investors, which included BTC, ETH, and the stablecoin USDT, but at the time it explicitly stated that no additional assets would be added. However, Ivan Chebeskov, Deputy Minister of Finance of Russia, disclosed in an interview that, according to regulations, the digital assets that non-eligible investors are allowed to invest in must have an average market value exceeding 5 trillion rubles (about 70 billion USD) over the course of two years; therefore, the authorities are selecting widely recognized cryptocurrencies globally, mainly including BTC, ETH, USDT, and USDC.

The $70 billion threshold is quite high; USDC making the list shows that liquidity is indeed strong.
