The Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Michael Selig, announced the appointment of Donald Battle as Chief Data Innovation Officer. Battle previously served at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where he was a senior advisor to Commissioner Hester Peirce's crypto working group and participated in developing data science tools for analyzing large datasets and emerging technology cases. Before joining the SEC, Battle worked at the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury as a virtual currency enforcement officer, focusing on blockchain forensics, anti-money laundering, and counter-terrorism financing.
