Crypto World News reports that U.S. lawmakers have proposed legislation to establish a federal task force focused on investigating cryptocurrency thefts, fraud, and hacking. The proposal comes a year after Americans reported over $11 billion in crypto-related losses. If approved, the measure will create a coordinated reporting and enforcement framework across multiple federal agencies. Bipartisan lawmakers in Congress introduced the "Federal Cryptocurrency Theft Enforcement and Coordination Act," which will be led by the Attorney General, with participating agencies including the Department of Justice, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Treasury Department. According to the FBI's 2025 Internet Crime Report, Americans filed 181,565 cryptocurrency complaints, resulting in over $11.3 billion in losses, with investment fraud accounting for $7.2 billion. Seniors over 60 reported the highest losses, approximately $4.43 billion.
