Uzbekistani crypto businessman and blogger Arut Nazaryan was sentenced to 2 years in prison and fined 200 million UAE dirhams (approximately $54.5 million) by a local court for operating his crypto exchange Bistox without the necessary license in the UAE. Reports state that the fine amount is equivalent to the total trading volume of the Bistox platform, and Nazaryan is not allowed to leave the UAE until the fine is paid; his attempt to appeal was rejected. It is reported that Bistox users have been complaining about withdrawal issues since 2021, and the platform was shut down in 2022. (Bits media)
