Syscoin: Attackers illegally minted approximately 5 billion SYS tokens, and cross-chain operations have been paused. In a BlockBeats report dated June 8, the modular L1 blockchain Syscoin released a preliminary post-incident report. The attacker exploited a verification vulnerability in the cross-chain relay path and illegally minted about 5 billion SYS on the UTXO side.
Next, three things need to be watched: whether the relevant funds continue to flow in, whether on-chain transaction volume and holdings continue to expand, and whether the project team or regulators provide new confirmation information. A single news brief can only indicate that sentiment has been ignited; whether it can solidify into a trend will be determined by subsequent data.
Risks also need to be kept front and center: after the incident, Syscoin’s cross-chain operations have been paused. The funds that were illegally minted have been transferred and split, and are currently mainly concentrated in two addresses.
