What is an ETF?
An Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) is an open-ended fund that is listed and traded on a stock exchange, with variable fund shares. Since the launch of the world's first ETF product in the United States in 1993, ETFs have rapidly developed worldwide, becoming an important part of the capital markets.
ETF Investment Strategies
ETF investment strategies are diverse and suitable for investors with different risk preferences. Common strategies:
1. ETF Trend Strategy: Invest in different assets (bonds, commodities, equities, etc.) based on market cycles and industry trends, invest in different representative economies (such as China, the United States, Japan, etc.), and in ETFs with different styles or themes, such as cyclical industry ETFs or specific theme ETFs, aiming to achieve excess returns during market rotations. This strategy has higher returns.
2. ETF All-Weather Strategy: Invest in different assets (bonds, commodities, equities, etc.) based on market cycles and industry trends, invest in different representative economies (such as China, the United States, Japan, etc.), and in ETFs with different styles or themes, such as cyclical industry ETFs or specific theme ETFs, aiming to achieve excess returns amid market volatility. Select a portfolio composed of assets with long-term upward trends and weak correlations, using models to calculate appropriate weight ratios. This strategy has a higher Sharpe ratio.
3. Premium-Discount Arbitrage Strategy: Discount refers to the situation where the ETF's secondary market trading price is below its primary market net asset value (NAV). Hold a portfolio of the top N ETFs with the highest discounts, wait for the price to revert to NAV, then sell the ETFs; the profit logic comes from the price reverting to value and capturing the discount return. The strategy has a small capacity, requires high trading speed, and has an extremely high Sharpe ratio.
