Golden Finance reports that on June 8, according to AXIOS, a senior U.S. official and an Israeli source familiar with the call details revealed that Trump, on Sunday local time, asked Netanyahu not to retaliate for Iran’s missile attack and to leave more time for diplomacy. According to the U.S. official, during the call Trump told Netanyahu to hold off on action because “we are close to reaching a good deal.” The official said Netanyahu raised objections but ultimately “reluctantly agreed” to stay on hold for the time being. The official said the Sunday call was calmer than the tense back-and-forth between the leaders last week, and Trump did not raise his voice at Netanyahu. The U.S. official added: “We believe the president has gained a bit of time. He is very confident that we are close to reaching an agreement with Iran. I don’t think Israel will take any immediate strike action. The president believes we’ve spent three months on this, and now it’s time to end it.” (Golden Ten)
