Jin Se Finance reported that on June 7, Trump said in an NBC interview that he personally believes the fund is “a good idea,” and hinted that he may use some of the money to compensate people convicted for their involvement in the Capitol Hill riots. Although Acting Deputy Attorney General Brunch previously promised that the idea was shelved, Trump nevertheless clearly said he was trying to move the plan forward, which could reignite tensions with Senate Republicans. The fund is part of Trump’s settlement agreement with the IRS, aimed at compensating victims of politically motivated investigation(s); however, critics in Congress have denounced it as a “bribery fund” that benefits his political allies. Trump also claimed that the 2020 election was “rigged,” criticized California’s slow vote count, and then, during the interview, angrily berated the host as “stupid,” ending the interview early.
