According to JAMnews, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs seized 148 cryptocurrency mining devices during an investigation into illegal electricity use in the town of Mestia. The Ministry states that authorities found multiple locations in the area using professional crypto mining equipment, with some residents suspected of illegally consuming large amounts of electricity and systematically mining with the equipment to earn illegal income. The case is under investigation under Article 229 of the Georgian Criminal Code, with a maximum sentence of 3 years in prison.
