Chile uncovers $88 million cryptocurrency money laundering case, arrests 18 suspects, freezes over 140 bank accounts

Mars Finance News, according to Bitcoin.com, Chile dismantled a $88 million cryptocurrency money laundering ring linked to the sanctioned transnational Venezuelan criminal organization Tren de Aragua. After two years of investigation, police arrested 18 individuals suspected of using crypto assets for money laundering in Chile, who are members of the Tren de Aragua gang from Venezuela. The operation was carried out by the Chilean police and the Southern Prosecutor's Office across three regions in Chile. During the operation, over 140 bank accounts were frozen, and $300k in funds belonging to the organization were seized.
