Coenzyme Q10 (Coenzyme Q10) and Its Effects on the Heart

Coenzyme Q10 is a substance that the human body can synthesize on its own. It is found in the highest amounts in heart tissue. Its core functions focus on providing energy, providing antioxidant protection, and protecting the myocardium.

## I. Main Heart Benefits

1. Provides energy for the myocardium and helps relieve fatigue
The myocardium constantly contracts and consumes an enormous amount of energy. Coenzyme Q10 participates in cellular energy synthesis, which can enhance myocardial power and improve palpitations, chest tightness, shortness of breath after activity, and heart weakness.

2. Strong antioxidant effects, protecting blood vessels and the myocardium
It clears free radicals, reduces damage to myocardial cells and the vascular endothelium, slows down vascular aging, and lowers the damage that oxidative stress can cause to the heart.

3. Helps improve myocardial ischemia and abnormal heart rhythms
It helps improve insufficient blood supply to the myocardium. It can also provide auxiliary relief for premature beats and palpitations caused by staying up late, high stress, or overexertion.

4. Helps alleviate side effects of statin medications
Long-term use of lipid-lowering drugs (statins) can lead to muscle soreness, fatigue, and discomfort in the myocardium. Supplementing with Coenzyme Q10 can clearly reduce these adverse reactions.

5. Nurtures and supports the heart in middle-aged and older adults
After the age of 25, the body’s own synthesis of Coenzyme Q10 decreases year by year. Supplementation in middle-aged and older adults can help maintain heart function and reduce cardiac load.

## II. Suitable People

• People who often stay up late, are under high stress, sit for long periods, or exercise less

• Middle-aged and older adults, people with a relatively weak heart, and those who are prone to palpitations and chest tightness

• People who are currently taking statin-type lipid-lowering medications

• People with mild myocardial fatigue, and those recovering after surgery/illness

## III. Simple Notes

• It is a fat-soluble substance; absorption is better when taken with meals or after eating;

• It is a dietary supplement and cannot replace prescription medication;

• Pregnant women, people in the breastfeeding period, and people taking anticoagulants are advised to consult a doctor first.
