Iran and Pakistan’s interior ministers meet to discuss regional developments and related issues

Golden Finance reports that on June 7, local time in the evening of June 6, Iran’s Minister of Interior Momeni met with visiting Pakistan’s Minister of Interior Naqvi. Momeni said that part of Naqvi’s visit will focus on bilateral matters, including border security, counter-narcotics, and counter-terrorism. In addition, the two sides decided in the economic field to raise the annual trade volume between the two countries from 3 billion USD to 10 billion USD. Momeni said that Iran appreciates Pakistan’s positive role in easing tensions between Iran and the United States. Naqvi said that Iran and Pakistan share a brotherly relationship and hopes that, through the efforts of Pakistani officials, regional crises can be brought to an end as soon as possible.

This visit was intended to deliver special letters from Pakistan’s Army Chief of Staff Munir and Prime Minister Sharif to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mujtaba regarding the current situation. Naqvi noted, “I think this message is very important. I hope everything goes smoothly and the crisis ends soon.”
