Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit guilty about grinding testnet points… It was originally just to practice my touch, but the moment I started thinking, “If I can get an airdrop out of this, it’ll be profit,” my mindset immediately changed, and all my focus got sucked into Gas, time, and attention. Plainly put: once expectations show up, it’s easy to get carried away—you can’t even be bothered to look at a link twice.

My self-imposed stop-loss is kind of old-fashioned: I only let myself mess around for up to half an hour per day—if I go over, I stop; any time someone asks me to import a mnemonic phrase/signature sequence that I can’t make sense of, I just close the page; with new accounts, I only put small amounts of test funds—my main wallet and hardware wallet never touch testnet interactions. The “modularization, the DA layer,” and other kinds of narratives developers talk excitedly about—I’m the kind of user who usually just goes “oh oh.” The less I understand, the more I need to pull back. Don’t treat your own private keys like tuition fees.

Next time, I’m planning to first get clear about exactly what I’m practicing—otherwise, I’d just be gambling. How do you guys put the brakes on when grinding points?
