Huawei Cloud’s Chen Lin: Ascend 950DT to launch in August; one generation per year, with computing power doubling

Caijing News Report, June 5 — Huawei Vice President and Head of Huawei Cloud China, Chen Lin, said that currently, more than 30 host manufacturers and suppliers have reached in-depth cooperation with Huawei Cloud across multiple areas including intelligent driving, vehicle connectivity, carmakers’ overseas expansion, and smart manufacturing.

More than 2 million intelligent driving vehicles and 60 million connected vehicles access Huawei Cloud every day and operate stably; more than 100,000 cards of Ascend computing power support the continuous iteration of customers’ intelligent driving algorithms through Huawei Cloud.

He added that sustainable computing power supply, deterministic computing power iteration, and efficient data processing and storage capabilities have become decisive factors in determining whether intelligent driving models can stay ahead.

Ascend chips are evolving at a pace of one generation per year, with computing power doubling each time, and the new-generation Ascend 950DT chip will also officially go live on Huawei Cloud in August.

Compared with the previous-generation chip, the 950DT will significantly improve vector computing power, HBM memory bandwidth, and interconnect bandwidth, and will natively support low-precision formats such as FP8, making programming more user-friendly, model tuning simpler, and intelligent driving scenarios more accessible.
