Chen Tlei: The Federal Reserve May Have Fallen Behind the Inflation Situation

Mars Finance news, citing Jintiao, reports that Brandywine Global Investment Management’s portfolio manager, Chen Terei, said that strong non-farm payroll data indicates the job market is recovering, and the Federal Reserve should focus on inflation. The current inflation rate is almost on par with the unemployment rate (4.3% in May), and the Federal Reserve may already be behind the curve. Inflation swap contracts show that traders expect July’s CPI to break above 4.2%, before falling back to 3.8% in the first quarter.
