Polymarket's CMO was exposed for paying over $2.5 million to more than 800 influencers, with no disclosure of paid promotion relationships.
BlockBeats News, June 5 — Polymarket Chief Marketing Officer Matthew Modabber transferred over $2.5 million to more than 800 people via his personal PayPal account between January 2025 and February 2026. Among them, approximately 24 verifiable influencers posted about Polymarket on the X platform after receiving payments, with a total of over 490 posts, all without disclosing paid promotion relationships.
Recipients include content creators with conservative, progressive, and other different stances. Some posts presented Polymarket odds data using news-like language such as "BREAKING" and "NEW." In response, a Polymarket spokesperson stated that collaborating with influencers is a routine business activity for the company but refused to comment on related disclosure policies or Modabber's use of personal accounts for transactions. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires influencers to disclose any "material connections" with brands they promote. (Politico)
