Recently, when the chain gets congested, I think of the mempool and those "queue numbers." Clicking send doesn't mean you're in the car; it just puts a little note into the waiting room: miners/packagers pick the ones that look good (in other words, those that are cost-effective, visually pleasing, or on their route) first, and the rest continue to hang around, even being pushed to the back and reordered repeatedly. If you're unlucky, you might even get stuck so long you forget about it. Others think on-chain transactions are "first come, first served," but in reality, it's more like "who tips more gets through the gate first." Recently, social mining and fan tokens are quite similar—shouting about attention being mining, but when congestion hits, attention isn't worth much. The only thing that can still cut in line are those real incentives... Anyway, now I always check the congestion before placing an order so I don't let emotions queue up.
