🚨I SOLD MY ENTIRE $ZEC HOLDINGS, LAST NIGHT.

First, I want to give credit where it's due. The @Zcash team, the researchers involved, and everyone who helped coordinate the response deserve respect.
They discovered a critical vulnerability, disclosed it publicly, and patched it rapidly. That level of transparency is something this industry needs more of...
- The problem isn't how they handled it.
- The problem is what we don't know.
The disclosed vulnerability existed from the launch of Orchard in 2022 until it was patched in June 2026.
According to the report, it could have allowed an attacker to create an unlimited amount of counterfeit ZEC that would appear completely valid to the network.
More importantly, because of the privacy properties, there is currently no way to prove whether the vulnerability was exploited before it was fixed (Showing what they built, actually adds value and the reason I invested in the first place)😂😭
- There is no evidence that anyone exploited it.
- But there is also no way to prove that nobody did.
Maybe this comes from my tradfi background, but supply integrity is not something I'm willing to compromise on. If I cannot confidently verify the integrity of an asset's supply, I cannot justify owning it.
Could the odds of exploitation be extremely low?
- Absolutely.
Could the researchers be right that nobody found this before they did?
- Absolutely.
I genuinely hope that's the case.
- But hope isn't an investment thesis.
▪️ZEC is now down 61% from last night.
This isn't about whether counterfeit ZEC exists...It's about the fact that nobody can currently prove it doesn't.
I hope the network upgrade succeeds and restores confidence in the supply. If the team can provide a mechanism that definitively verifies the integrity of every ZEC in circulation, that would be a huge step forward.
Until then, I won't be holding ZEC.
