Today I was again messed around by cross-chain bridges and started to feel a bit anxious… Many people are focused on transaction fees and arrival speed, but I’m more concerned about who actually holds the multi-signature keys and whether they are truly dispersed; also about oracle price feeds/status updates—if nothing goes wrong, it’s just background noise, but once an issue arises, it’s “why was it suddenly changed.” Honestly, “waiting for confirmation” isn’t procrastination; it’s giving yourself a chance to reconsider and cut losses, especially when the bridge gets stuck or information is asymmetric.
Recently, when I stake again or share security for compounded yields, I get called out for “overly layered security,” I can understand that—security assumptions layer upon layer, and in the end, it probably still depends on people and operations not dropping the ball. Anyway, I now prefer to do small arbitrage slowly, wait for a few more confirmations, eat less profit, and feel more comfortable emotionally.
