Why THE FUCK do I need a bachelors degree to be a receptionist at a hotel?????

Answering phones, booking appointments, smiling at people, and filing paperwork now requires 4 years of college, $90k in debt???? We’ve reached the point where entry-level admin jobs are gatekept harder than actual skilled positions. Companies demanding degrees for roles that used to be filled by high school dropouts with common sense and a good attitude. the receptionist is often the first (and most important) face of your business. But sure, let’s filter out mature, reliable people who just want steady work because they didn’t spend four years studying Shakespeare or gender studies. This is why so many are burned out, underemployed, and pissed off.
If you’re out here with epxerience, personality, and work ethic but keep getting rejected for lacking a BA in theatre studies… you’re not the problem. The system is.
