Third time I’ve gotten “waited out” by myself—stop-loss really is like a breakup: the longer you drag it on, the more it hurts, and that little bit of reluctance on the books is calculating interest for you every day. Plainly put, the market doesn’t owe you a rebound; if you hesitate for two days, you might end up taking another cut. Lately I’ve also been seeing everyone interpret ETF fund flows and the little bit of risk appetite in the US stock market as being tied to how the crypto market rises and falls—I see it too, but I don’t dare treat it like scripture. Once emotions kick in, I’m even less willing to cut. Anyway, my current rule is kind of blunt: if you’re wrong, own it—cut it, go to sleep well. It’s better than staying up all night holding on to “hope.”
