Why did CEO Zhang Xiaolong of Chalk Technology "lose his mind" on the spot during the speech event at Renmin University School of Philosophy?
Based on the reasons listed in Figure 2 for not wanting to take the civil service exam:
1️⃣ The admission ratio is too extreme, and the government is reducing recruitment, making future employment within the system difficult
2️⃣ Those preparing for civil service exams are mostly unlikely to pass; they only provide these people with emotional support and publicly available "internship opportunities"
3️⃣ The company is facing layoffs, with many tutors, market analysts, engineers, and others at risk of unemployment
Considering his age, he should be a graduate from Zhongshan University’s most progressive generation of thinkers.
Looking at his personal background, he in 2002, despite his high school homeroom teacher’s advice that "a major can affect employment," insisted on applying to the Philosophy Department of Guizhou University.
In college, he realized that "philosophy majors indeed face employment difficulties," then entered Zhongshan University’s Philosophy Department, and during his postgraduate entrance exam preparation, also prepared for civil service exams and went to interviews.
He deeply understands how hard it is to find employment with a philosophy degree, and he wanted to show these students a way to the sky, but he didn’t realize that these students are completely unaware of the harsh realities, have not been beaten by society, have not opened their eyes to see the world, nor studied the current policy directions guided by the country and kept pace with technological progress.
The positions available within the system are very limited, and most of the work is clerical.
In the context of the large-scale national push for technological innovation and AI industry transformation, these people are not delving into AI and emerging industries that are being "bottlenecked," and during the rapid development of AI, spending years preparing for civil service exams, which, if unsuccessful, could very likely lead to being eliminated by the times.
"Don’t think that just because you are at Renmin University, you are special; you are completely unaware of the impact you bring to society with new things, so it’s only natural that you can’t find a job."
I don’t think he’s losing his mind; he’s just feeling uneasy about earning tutoring money, misleading young people, and feeling too much pressure.
It’s a pity that these students are just frogs completely unaware of new phenomena; most people in the world are like that.
The first mistake he made was speaking to the wrong audience; the second was that he shouldn’t have talked about US stocks, and now talking about A-shares might be heading in two different directions.
