BlockBeats News, June 4th, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that, as part of the international anti-fraud operation codenamed "Disruption Week," in collaboration with companies such as Apple, Coinbase, Google, Meta, Microsoft, SpaceX, TRM Labs, and others, more than $3.8 million in cryptocurrency assets related to scams have been frozen.

Among them, Coinbase stated that it alone froze over $3 million worth of involved crypto assets. The entire operation shut down over 1.4 million accounts, deactivated thousands of Starlink devices, and arrested 63 suspects. Thai police also arrested 7 scam suspects during the operation.

The U.S. Department of Justice said that this operation also destroyed multiple scam servers and hosting infrastructure located in Southeast Asia. The related criminal networks are mainly active in the border regions of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand.

According to FBI data, in 2025, losses caused by cryptocurrency investment scams among U.S. citizens increased by 24% year-over-year, exceeding $7.2 billion, higher than $5.8 billion in 2024 and $3.96 billion in 2023.

The U.S. Department of Justice stated that scam groups often recruit members with the lure of high-paying jobs and then force them to carry out scam activities targeting victims in the U.S. and other countries.
