25-year-old California crypto businessman Adam Iza (nickname "Godfather") pleaded guilty on June 1st, admitting to orchestrating a kidnapping attempt targeting a Connecticut couple, aiming to extort approximately 245 million USD using 4,100 BTC allegedly stolen by his son. U.S. prosecutors are requesting a minimum sentence of 14 years at sentencing on August 12th. Reports state that Iza also admitted to wire fraud, tax evasion, and hiring off-duty police officers for illegal surveillance and extortion in another California case, with prosecutors seeking a 35-year sentence in that case.
