Today I encountered a sudden "lag" in on-chain data again. My first reaction was to think my internet was down... Then I realized it was probably the indexer/subgraph catching up, or RPC throttling: you’re watching the K-line and positions, and they’re still queuing to fetch data. Basically, the "reality" you see is delayed by a few seconds. The most annoying part is that these few seconds are just enough for me to overthink for 30 seconds, and then I miss the opportunity. Now macro discussions are again about rate cut expectations, the US dollar index moving up and down with risk assets, and so on. I no longer believe in the phrase "data is always real-time and objective." Anyway, before placing an order, I check two sets of data to compare. If it’s lagging, I pull back a bit to avoid being fooled by false signals into liquidation.
