Many sufferings do not come from not being able to obtain, but from becoming excessively attached to “must have.” The harder you grip and hold on, the more tightly your heart becomes clenched—making it easier to fall into anxiety and self-consuming internal struggle. The truly effective way lies in learning to “act in reverse”: when you need to strive, go all out; when you need to let go, release decisively, and do not let yourself be bound by the outcome.
