Bloomberg Analyst Says Market Concerns Over Bitcoin Sale Are Overblown
Bloomberg ETF analyst, Eric Balchunas, stated via his X account on Tuesday (06/02), that market concerns about Strategy's move to sell part of its Bitcoin holdings are considered excessive. Balchunas explained that the amount of Bitcoin sold only accounts for about 0.004% of the company's total holdings. The transaction involved selling 32 Bitcoin at an average price of $77,135 to fund preferred stock dividends, with a total value of around $2.5 million.
Although the scale of the sale is quite small, Balchunas also questioned Strategy's reasons for making the transaction, considering the company should have anticipated a strong negative reaction from the media and skeptics. Some analysts believe that this limited transaction makes it difficult to conclude that Strategy has changed its long-term accumulation strategy.
However, the debate in the market continues over whether this move signals a shift in the company's policy direction. So far, there has been no official confirmation from Strategy or Michael Saylor regarding any changes to their long-term Bitcoin reserve strategy.
