In the 80s my dad worked at a factory.

No degree. No side hustle.
Owned a home. Raised a family. Retired with a pension.
The factory still exists.
Those same jobs now pay $17 an hour.
You can’t rent a one bedroom on $17 an hour.
Let alone raise a family.
Nothing changed about the work.
The machines still run. The product still ships.
The company still profits.
What changed is who gets to keep it.
And it stopped being the workers a long time ago.
