Meta has finally built “self-destruct after reading” into AI chat, and its privacy play with incognito mode is pretty well-timed.

AIMPACT reported on May 16 that WhatsApp will roll out the “Incognito Chat” feature in Meta AI chatbots, where chats are handled in a secure environment and cannot be viewed by anyone. Users can enable Incognito Chat by tapping the new icon in one-on-one chats, and the feature will also be synced to the standalone Meta AI app. Incognito Chat is no longer saved—when the session ends, the content disappears; if the app is closed or the screen is locked, the session ends and the context is lost.
