With the current employment situation in China, you can’t just ignore social media anymore—this is one of the paths ordinary people can use to defy the odds and change their fate. If an account can reach 20,000 to 30,000 followers, then at the very least it can still provide a safety net of about 5,000 to 6,000 yuan in income per month on average. If it doesn’t work out, then chances are you’ll end up working overtime at a law firm or a small company under a 996 schedule, making around 3,000 yuan a month, or doing physical labor and odd jobs to scrape by. And then by the time you’re in your thirties, you’ve piled up a whole body full of illnesses and only saved less than 100,000 yuan.
