Why did Bitcoin drop today
The decline in Bitcoin (BTC) price to around USD 70,500 - USD 72,000 (approximately IDR 1.14 billion - IDR 1.24 billion) today was triggered by a combination of negative sentiment from major corporate actions, geopolitical tensions, and institutional fund movements.
Here are some main factors causing the crypto market to turn red today:
1. Psychological Effect of "MicroStrategy" Sentiment
Surprising news came from MicroStrategy, a company known as the world's largest Bitcoin holder. They reportedly sold 32 BTC (worth about USD 2.5 million) for the first time in 3.5 years to fund dividend obligations.
Although the amount sold is very small compared to their total holdings of hundreds of thousands of BTC, the market responded emotionally, perceiving that the most loyal institutional buyer's "fortress" is finally beginning to weaken.
2. Massive Outflows from ETFs
Outflows from Bitcoin spot ETFs in the US continue. Over the past two weeks, the total funds withdrawn by institutional investors from Bitcoin ETF instruments have exceeded USD 2.5 billion. The lack of buying pressure from large investors has caused the price to lose its support at key resistance levels.
3. Global Geopolitical Tensions
Military actions and rising tensions between the United States and Iran in the Middle East triggered risk-off responses in financial markets. In such uncertain conditions, investors tend to secure their capital from high-risk assets like crypto and shift it into traditional safe havens such as oil or gold.
4. Massive Liquidation Waves & "Whale" Selling Pressure
On-chain data shows a surge in Bitcoin outflows from whale wallets to exchanges, indicating strong profit-taking actions. This sudden price drop also triggered a domino effect of forced liquidations of futures trading accounts holding long positions (bets on rising prices).
Technically, analysts see Bitcoin testing an important psychological level at USD 70,000. If this level holds, there is a chance for a reversal or rebound soon. However, if it breaks, the price could correct further down to the USD 68,000 area. #WinGoldBarsWithGrowthPoints $BTC
