Finally breaking out of IDE plugins: GitHub launches Copilot as a standalone desktop application, supporting multiple agents running in parallel
GitHub releases Copilot Desktop Technical Preview, turning Copilot into an independent application for intelligent agent-driven development, supporting parallel management of multiple AI agents within the same interface, and creating separate work trees and branches for each session. Agents can collaboratively analyze and fix CI issues, write new features based on issues, without interfering with each other. Newly added Agent Merge automatically reviews, fixes, and merges pull requests, natively integrates with MCP and custom skills, and can be used after enterprise authorization.
