Hermes Agent launches native Windows support, no WSL or container needed

Abstract generation in progress
CryptoWorld News reports that Hermes Agent officially supports native operation on Windows 10 and 11, removing the need to configure WSL, Cygwin, or Docker. The new version supports a command-line CLI, an interactive TUI, instant messaging gateways for more than 15 platforms, a Cron scheduler, and MCP server services. To solve cross-platform command compatibility issues, the new version introduces a runtime strategy similar to Claude Code, running shell commands via Git Bash. By default, the system retrieves the path to Bash.exe and provides a lightweight PortableGit tool (about 45MB) to enable seamless startup. The framework integrates a UTF-8 character set configuration module, automatically switches the console code page to CP_UTF8 (65001), and refactors Python’s standard input/output streams. Gateway deployment has been redesigned for Windows features, using scheduled tasks to enable auto-start on boot and avoid requiring administrator privileges.

How is it possible to enable auto-start on boot without administrator privileges? Curious about the technical details.

Git Bash acts as a compatibility layer, which is quite clever and much lighter than Cygwin.

Packing PortableGit 45MB really saves effort; setting up the environment before could take half a day.
