The office of the First Lady, from the Presidency down to the states, has gradually become an institution many Nigerians now question because it holds no constitutional backing, yet continues to consume public resources.


At moments when citizens expect empathy and leadership, the silence is often deafening.
Since the kidnapping of over 40 children in Oyo State, how many First Ladies have publicly condemned the tragedy or shown genuine concern for the affected families? Even symbolic solidarity seems absent.
Ironically, years ago, Dame Patience Jonathan openly cried on national television over the abduction of the Chibok girls, and many Nigerians mocked her emotional reaction instead of appreciating the concern she showed as a mother figure at the time.
Today, the silence from many occupying similar positions makes people reflect differently on that moment.
Forgive us madam...
