Sui mainnet downtime review: Three major failures caused by upgrades, with no rollback of any confirmed transactions
BlockBeats reports that the Sui mainnet experienced three outages on May 28–29.
The first two were caused by crashes triggered by interactions between the Gas billing logic and version 1.72 (Address Balances).
Although a temporary fix was implemented on Friday to restore service as quickly as possible, there was a very low risk of further failures.
On Friday afternoon, a long-hidden flaw in the randomness state triggered during epoch transitions, causing the network to fail again.
The outages occurred approximately from 7:00–13:30, 5:00–8:30, and 13:30–19:20 PT.
Funds remained secure during the incidents, and the Gas Charging and Randomness State vulnerabilities have now been fixed, with the network restored to normal.
