An anonymous plaintiff sues to claim Bitcoin from dormant addresses including Satoshi Nakamoto, involving nearly 3.8 million BTC

Wu Says Learned that a Galaxy Research report states that an anonymous plaintiff, Noah Doe, and two Wyoming LLCs filed a lawsuit in March 2026 in the Supreme Court of New York County, seeking confirmation of their legal ownership of 39,069 long-dormant Bitcoin addresses and approximately 3,799,629 BTC contained within them. The claim values the BTC at about $293.5 billion based on the price as of May 25, 2026, including about 1.096 million BTC believed to belong to Satoshi Nakamoto, about 79,957 BTC from the Mt. Gox hacker address, and about 2,131 BTC from the Counterparty burn address. Galaxy Research believes the legal basis for the lawsuit is questionable, including because the plaintiffs do not hold private keys or have actual control of the BTC, yet they value each address at less than $10 to enable a faster path to entitlement, and they attempt to complete substituted service via on-chain notification using OP_RETURN. The report says that even if the plaintiffs prevail, they cannot obtain private keys or transfer BTC, but they may be able to assert rights when the relevant BTC enters centralized exchanges or custodial institutions through the court ruling; long-term dormancy does not mean abandoning ownership.

293.5 billion dollars? The plaintiff probably isn't joking around.

If Satoshi's coins could move, they would have already moved long ago; there's no need to wait until today.

Undervalued assets accelerate ownership, I was so focused on the calculations I could hear them on Mars.

It is recommended that the plaintiff first prove that they are human, then prove they have rights.

This litigation fee probably exceeds the BTC in the plaintiff's wallet.

Even if you win, how do you enforce it? Force the miners to hard fork and transfer the coins to him?
