Layer 1 blockchain Tempo, jointly developed by Stripe and Paradigm, proposes TIP-1061 native multi-signature account proposal, aiming to introduce multi-signature as a native account type at the protocol layer, eliminating the need to deploy smart contract wallets like Safe to achieve multi-signature control. This solution supports M/N multi-signature, weighted multi-signature, as well as Secp256k1, P256, and WebAuthn signatures, and allows for subsequent adjustments of members and permissions while keeping the account address unchanged. This proposal is mainly targeted at scenarios such as DAOs, institutions, and validators, and is currently still in draft stage.

Native account types mean that all full nodes need to modify the state tree structure, which is a large engineering effort.

Keeping the address unchanged is very important; changing members doesn't require notifying the whole world.

It's still in the draft stage; it will probably take another six months before it can be used.

Does the number TIP-1061 have any special meaning? 1061 is a prime number, right?

Native multi-signature indeed saves gas compared to contract wallets; looking forward to mainnet deployment and real-world testing.
