A man from Shandong was sentenced to 10 years and 9 months in prison for transferring 107 bitcoins stolen from the victim.
Odaily Planet Daily News: The Qingdao Licheng District Procuratorate announced that the defendant Zhang Moumou exploited the opportunity to register a virtual currency wallet on his behalf to obtain the mnemonic phrase, and multiple times in the early morning transferred 107 bitcoins from the victim Feng Moumou. Zhang then transferred the bitcoins through multiple virtual currency trading platforms, converting them into over 660k yuan in RMB. The Qingdao Licheng District People's Court sentenced Zhang to 10 years and 9 months in prison for theft in the first instance, and fined 100k yuan.
After the defendant appealed, the Qingdao Intermediate People's Court dismissed the appeal and upheld the original judgment. The case recognized the theft amount based on the actual proceeds from selling stolen goods, totaling over 660k yuan. (Shandong Legal Daily)
