What is the mortality rate of polar bear cubs?

First, clarify: the mortality rate differs between just born (inside the snow den, from birth to emergence), the first year, and up to two years old.

✅ Just born / nursing period (inside the den, 0–3 months)

• Wild: mortality rate about 10%–30% (varies by population)

• Birth weight only 500–700 grams, blind and hairless, extremely fragile

✅ Within the first year (after emerging from the den to 1 year old)

• Overall: mortality rate about 40%–50% (survival rate 50–60%)

• Regional differences are significant:

◦ Hudson Bay: survival rate within 1 year is only 15% → mortality rate 85%

◦ Baffin Bay: survival rate 56% → mortality rate 44%

✅ Up to 2 years old (before leaving mother)

• Overall: mortality rate about 50%–65% (only 1/3 survive to 2 years old)

Main causes of death

1. Mother bear lacking fat reserves, insufficient milk → starvation

2. Adult male polar bears killing cubs (cannibalism)

3. Melting sea ice, hunting failures, climate deterioration (warming intensifies)

The survival of polar bears is as brutal as financial investment! Only about one-third of polar bear cubs grow into adult polar bears! So, what proportion of investors in the crypto world can maintain stable benefits? I believe it’s definitely less than one-third!
