The Sui mainnet has now been repaired and is back online. After continuous fixes by the core team, the network has been operating normally since May 30. Currently, all SUI assets in your account are secure, and on-chain transfers, transactions, and other operations are no longer affected.

⚙️ Tracing the root cause: The "fault chain" of this incident

This consecutive outage was not caused by a single issue but resulted from a series of chain reactions:

· Root cause (v1.72 version gas logic error): The initial cause of the first outage on May 28, triggered by a vulnerability in the gas billing logic during an upgrade, which caused nodes to enter a "crash loop."
· Short-term fix ("patch with issues"): The temporary patch deployed by the team to quickly restore the network carried a very low probability of causing downtime itself.
· Deep vulnerability (consensus layer design flaw): During the deployment of the final long-term fix on May 30, a fundamental weakness in the epoch transition mechanism was exposed. When nodes rebooted, a threshold higher than the consensus mechanism caused the random number initialization to fail, ultimately causing a deadlock at the epoch transition "crack."

🛠️ Complete fix: The comprehensive solution has been deployed

Sui officials confirmed in their May 30 announcement that validators successfully deployed the "long-term fix," which the authorities state has "completely resolved" the known issues caused by the original vulnerability, and the network has returned to normal operation.
