My current mindset with L2 is basically this: for small amounts, frequent operations, and anything where I want results fast, I go for it—even if it means taking an extra step to make the crossing. But if I really plan to hold for a long time, or if an amount looks like it could make my heart skip a beat just seeing it, then I stay honest and use the mainnet. Yes, gas is more expensive, but I can sleep soundly… in plain terms, it’s just using money to buy peace of mind / buy time.
Recently, the cross-chain bridge has been having issues again, so every time I bridge over, I have to keep staring at the on-chain confirmations and refresh for half a day—“waiting for confirmations” has started to feel like a community default ritual. The experience is also pretty realistic: L2 is cheaper, but sometimes you run into something like an oracle’s price going haywire, the front-end display turns into a complete mess, and in the end I still have to check the swap path myself to see exactly where it ended up going. Otherwise, you really might start thinking you’re just seeing things. Anyway, right now I just do less messing around—I’d rather be slower. I’ll finish my snacks first before I click confirm.
