The U.S. government prohibits Americans from reaching a "safe passage" agreement with Iran, and the Strait of Hormuz will remain difficult to navigate in the short term.
The U.S. Treasury Department's OFAC announced an update prohibiting Americans from obtaining any "safe passage" services from the Iranian government or the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, even if no payment is made.
